February – May, 2022

SHARE A SMILE is program started in 2021 by NJAPD inShare a Smile partnership with the 5 NJ hygiene programs.  SAS was started in response to COVID-19 & the decrease in Give Kids a Smile programs.  Due to the decrease in GKAS programs, many children in NJ had additional unmet dental needs.

SAS is an extension of GKAS.   NJ pediatric dentists want to help!  They have signed up to provide FREE dental care from February to May 2022 for children that were screened by any dentist or hygiene program for GKAS and Children’s dental health month.  This program is to serve as a safety net to help those children that are uninsured or under insured.
A database of dentists willing to accept to treat a child for free dental care will be created and shared with all those participating with NJ Give Kids a Smile!

HOW THIS WORKS?

Hygiene programs or participating dental offices complete needed hygiene treatment on children, which may include SDF, sealants, xrays, fluoride treatment & a prophy. They will triage patients in need during the months of February March, April & May.  They refer patients to a pediatric dentist on the list that need additional operative or surgical care.

Each participating pediatric dentist will treat children for FREE according to the dentist’s preferences  (including time of the day, age, dental needs and # of children they are willing to see).

We all have the same goal-  help children receive dental care & to help provide a dental home!

If you are a pediatric dentist and want to volunteer:
